Produced in Akita Prefecture’s Kijiyama among other areas such as Kawatsura, Yuzawa, and Oyasu. The head and body are carved as one piece. The kimono’s collar and sleeves are detailed in the design, with plum blossom or chrysanthemum patterns on the front. These Kokeshi dolls capture the essence of a young woman from the deep mountain valleys with their notably expressive eyes.
